Velux Loft Conversions
The Velux loft conversion takes its name from the well know brand name Velux™, a leading manufacturer of skylights, loft windows and roof windows.
This type of loft conversion is characterised by installing large roof light windows into the pitch of a roof. This will give the space natural light and ventilation without making any dramatic changes to the existing structure of your roof.
It is generally adequate for customers in Essex and London who are contemplating a loft conversion in order to gain either a home office, play room, study or a bedroom (either with or without an en-suite).
A Velux conversion will have the same structural floor, stair access and insulation as all other types of conversion, and our team will make no external alterations to the existing roof. This means that you will not normally require planning permission in order to carry out the project.
When it comes to this type of loft conversion, a little work can go a long way to creating a space that delivers that all-important ‘wow’ factor. Velux loft conversions are typically less disruptive than dormer, Mansard and hip to gable conversions, too, as our builders won’t need to carry out as much construction work on the property to bring your vision to life.
There is a minimum height requirement for this type of conversion, as some properties do not provide adequate standing room for Velux skylights. However, as long as your existing loft has enough height, a Velux conversion will deliver the results you’re looking for.
A Velux loft conversion is suitable for most properties – however, there are other options available.Learn more about the different types of loft conversions here. .
