Getting Planning Permission for your Loft Conversion
In October 2008, the UK government revised its rules concerning planning permission for loft conversions. This means that its now possible to expand your current living quarters into your loft space hassle free.
Under these new rules, you are exempt from planning permission if the volume of your adaptation doesn’t exceed 40m³ for terraced houses and 50m3 for detached and semi-detached houses.
You can view more information on the governments Planning Portal website at www.planningportal.gov.uk.
